With the introduction of Facebook to the blogging world there has be a steady increase in the number of people who decide to start fan pages. At first it wasn’t so bad, but now it seems a new page pops up every few days. I understand and respect that some people are just starting out and want to get noticed, but I feel like most times it is just someone who want to see how many people he or she can get to like their page. Truthfully I dont even have a problem with them having pages, who cares! But what pisses me off is this Share for Share crap… Or please share my page. First off we will never participate with someone who says “share for share” by posting on our wall, second we gained all of our fans the hard way and that was by keeping the most up to date content on our page as much as we possibly can. Asking for shares from your “fans” once in awhile is one thing or even doing a give away to generate a few more likes here and there is fine but to the pages that ask for shares on every single photo or post it gets too be to much.

The thing that sparked me to write this was a message we got not too long ago from the owner of garagewerks. By sending us a message that did not in anyway seem generic or lack the ability to spell full words, we responded.
Now maybe the message he sent us was copied and pasted page to page but at least he is giving us something we can use “Content / Photos” , in exchange for a plug in the caption. When it comes down to it we all know how hard it is to start out so when a big page gives you credit for finding an image or taking the image it helps a lot.
We will save Facebook fan pages with no real website for another day…

Watermarks
One other thing while we are on the topic, watermarks… They are on the photo for a reason. If you feel the need to post others photos and not give credit may you be kicked in the head. If the photo does not have a watermark and its found some random place on the internet that is one thing, but if its watermarked by a photographer then give credit where it is due. You can argue and say that anyone and everyone with a DSLR is taking photos and adding a watermark but if you are taking the time to post the photo clearly you believe that the image (good or not) is worth posting. You did not put in the time and effort (how ever little or great it may have been) to take it so give the person that did credit. People who crop out watermarks should be shot so lets end that debate right now… If you think the watermark hurts the photo or want your own on it than contact the person who has taken the photo and work something. Cropping watermarks shows a total lack in class. /Rant
